Duwamish Rowing Club, a small grassroots club in South Seattle, is seeking a youth coach for the 2024 season. Our youth season starts with on-land conditioning and training in January with the goal of beginning water practices in March, running through the end of October.
The ideal candidates will have a competitive rowing or coxing background, good communication skills, be highly motivated and have an ability to work independently. Prior coaching experience is preferred, but not necessary. This is an excellent position for a current college rower or those with college rowing experience. This youth group can be what you make it.
Responsibilities include:
Independently coaching youth practices. Following or developing on and off the water training and conditioning plans
Supervising rowers whilerunning the coaches launch,providing instruction in proper rowing technique
Establishing line‐ups and communicating and coordinating with youthrowers and DRC’s board of directors
Assisting with regatta preparation and regattas attendance
Assistance with maintaining equipment
● Part time position – anticipate 35 to 80 hours a month.
Practices are 3 days/week
Attendance at some weekend regattas during the summer is expected
● Compensation is $22-25/hour depending on experience
